MARCH began as an informal group of friends with a common interest in vintage computers. They opened an email list on Yahoo Groups and started to share their interest in the hobby.
The seminal event was the exhibit at the Trenton Computer Festival in 2005. TCF included the "vintage computer exhibit" in all of their advertising and promotion. Many future members made the trip to Trenton. The exhibit filled a handball court with an impressive array of machines from early handheld computers to a complete and often working DEC PDP 11.
